Economic Empowerement

YOUTH ECONOMIC EMPOWEREMENT PROGRAM REPORT:

 

Twekembe Development Association continues to work for the improvement of the lives of people in the community. It has continued to promote programmes that impact on the lives of people and has contributed a lot in training of various people in economic activities that are meant to benefit them economically. The association together with Kampala capital city Authority, gender and community development department have trained the Youth in economic activities. The management of KCCA has now resolved to offer simple loans to the Youth to start economic activities in the areas where they were trained in. These funds are due to be released and distributed to the Youths and have been asked to open up bank accounts where the funds are to deposited. They also been requested to prepare repayment schedules showing how this money is to be paid back to KCCA without any interest charged and they have now signed the memorandum of understanding.

Otherwise the Youths are ready to carry out these activities and be able to pay back the loan to KCCA in the period given which is 12 months.

The key aim of this project exercise is to empower the Youth to become self-reliant and sustaining in whatever they are doing in the Community.

 

 

KASOKOSO ENTERTAINMENT SHOW BY TWEKEMBE DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION CONJUCTION: WITH DAVID LUTALO and the Heirs-Uganda Musician Celebrity:



Twekembe Development Association on Valentines 14th February 2016 organised an entertainment through show by the Youth performer Group in collaboration with David Lutalo and the Heirs in Kasokoso suburb, one of the outskirts of Kampala City. The show was successful and it was able to pass on the messages of Peace and Community as a positive action for the community amongst their development and solidarity in combating poverty and unemployment. The youth performed various types of dances and entertainments and the audience went when they were fully satisfied. The show was one of the activities that was meant to raise funds for the social economic welfare and self-sustenance of the Youth. The association looks forward to holding more of such shows at National and International levels when presented with the opportunity because it will enable us to realise more outputs to sustain the members and the association. The sponsors of such shows are needed especially regarding the International platform and channelling.

 

  • Youth economic empowerment program beginning in this year 2016:

 

Twekembe Development Association continues to work for the improvement of the lives of people in the community. The Association has embarked on uplifting and nurturing the next young generation by initiating economic growth empowering projects and programmes through partnering with various local Governmental agencies to support young people with financial assistance to start up job creation projects. This year of 2016, The Association has managed to partner with a Divisional Local Government head Quarter of Lubaga Division in Kampala District, to provide youths of Twekembe with a youths development fund loan through the gender and community development department to help these youths improve on their day to day income. The management of KCCA and the Association came into an agreement for a long term support towards the youths of the Association by providing financial loans, trainings of youths in different economic investments among others. This programme is going to benefit a big number of youths and outcomes like learning how to invest, learning how to save and hard work, loans repayment among others are expected to be achieved by the youths of this organization and the community where we carry out our programs.
