Ariel Helwani reports that Robert Whittaker will Confront Luke Rockhold in FC 221 on Feb. 10 in Perth, Western Australia.
For the title, this will be with winner Georges St-Pierre not returning to the division per TSN.
Whittaker (19-4) headsi to his first title defence off an eight battle win streak, including a unanimous decision win over Yoel Romero in UFC 213 where he seized the interim middleweight title. The 26-year-old has finished two of his last three opponents. Rockhold (16-3) is coming from a stoppage victory over David Branch at UFC Fight Night 116. Strikeforce champion and the UFC has won six of his last seven fights. .
Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou place for UFC 220
MMAJunkie broke the information that heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will confront Francis Ngannou in UFC 220 on Jan. 20 in TD Garden in Boston.
Miocic (17-2) is now riding a five-fight win series such as a first-round TKO victory over Junior Dos Santos at UFC 211 back May. The 35-year-old has won eight of his last nine fights. Ngannou (11-1) has remained undefeated at the UFC and conquered Alistair Overeem last weekend in UFC 218 by first-round knockout. The 31-year-old hasn’t lost a fight.
